A Monegasque delegation visits Rome for the beatification of Pope John Paul I

On Sunday 4 September 2022, His Holiness Pope Francis beatified his predecessor, Pope John Paul I, at a ceremony in Saint Peter’s Square, in Rome.

The Monegasque delegation was led by H.E. Pierre Dartout, Minister of State, representing H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince. He was accompanied by H.E. Philippe Orengo, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Holy See, who was appointed to the role on 1 September.

Before the ceremony, H.E. the Minister of State, in the company of his wife, had the honour of greeting Pope Francis in the Chapel of La Pietà in Saint Peter’s Basilica, and afterwards met Msgr. Dominique-Marie David, Archbishop of Monaco. 

While in Rome, H.E. the Minister of State also visited the Chancery and the Residence and met the staff of the Embassy of Monaco to the Holy See.
