Following the earthquake on 12 January 2010, and in line with H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince's wish, all the Monegasque bodies that are active in the area of humanitarian work were brought together under the title of the Monaco Haiti Collective to respond effectively to this disaster.

Thanks to several field missions, it was possible to identify a partner, the Gheskio Centres, headed by Dr. Jean-William Pape, and a project, the construction of a nursery and primary school in Port-au-Prince, in one of the most disadvantaged and worst affected districts of the capital.

The school is scheduled to open in October 2012 and will accommodate 277 children.
