Richard Marangoni, Police Commissioner, Knight of French National Order of Merit

In the presence of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, Minister of State Serge Telle, and senior officials from the Principality, French Ambassador Marine de Carné-Trécesson presented Richard Marangoni, Monaco’s Police Commissioner, with his insignia as a Knight of the French National Order of Merit. 

“You occupy an important and sensitive position in Monaco, and you bring an element of distinction to security cooperation between our two countries,” the Ambassador said in her commendation. 

A graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Police in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or (the college which trains French police superintendents), Richard Marangoni joined the Police Department as a cadet in 1984 and is its first Monegasque director. He was appointed by Sovereign Ordinance on 3 March 2016. 

“My career has thus been a bridge between France and Monaco, and this distinction will no doubt also come to symbolise the story of my life,” Richard Marangoni said in his speech. 

The French National Order of Merit was established on 3 December 1963 by General de Gaulle. It rewards distinguished merit, in military or civilian life, in service of the French nation.
