Top Marques 2019 Public order is key concern for Government

The next Top Marques show will be held at Grimaldi Forum from 30 May to 3 June this year.

In light of the disturbances and anti-social behaviour observed on the fringes of previous shows, the Prince’s Government has decided to strengthen the legal tools at its disposal to crack down on offences committed with a focus, at this event, on effectively preventing disruptions to public order and irresponsible behaviour on the part of many drivers.

New provisions have therefore been put in place by means of Sovereign Ordinance No. 7.433, dated 18 April 2019, which amends Sovereign Ordinance No. 1.691, dated 17 December 1957, on regulation of traffic policing (Highway Code), and of Ministerial Decree No. 2019-361, dated 18 April 2019, regulating vehicle immobilisation.

Consequently, any vehicles contravening the Highway Code (failing to comply with speed limits, driving dangerously, failing to respect noise levels, not possessing a driving licence, etc.) may be immobilised for a fixed period of 120 hours and drivers punished by fines of up to 1,000 euros.

Additionally, drivers may also lose their driving licences or be banned from using them within Monaco (in the case of licences issued by a foreign authority) for a period of up to three months, at the discretion of the Minister of State.

In parallel, and in close collaboration with the event organiser, public authorities wanted to ensure that no test drives would be carried out on public roads this year.

The Prince’s Government is counting on all road users to act responsibly in order to ensure that the Top Marques event takes place under the best possible conditions, and that the Principality remains a world showcase for luxury cars.
