Department of Cultural Affairs

Role

The Department of Cultural Affairs is tasked with:

  • Promoting cultural development
  • Encouraging the activities of associations and artists in the Principality
  • Directly administrating or overseeing key cultural institutions (Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, the Opera, the Orchestra, the audio-visual archives, the Printemps des Arts festival, the Monaco Dance Forum, etc.)
  • Conservation and promotion of national heritage
  • Managing cultural infrastructures (the Rainier III Auditorium, Salle du Ponant, Variety Theatre, the Quai Antoine I exhibition centre, the Musée de la Chapelle de la Visitation, the Fort Antoine Amphitheatre, etc.)
  • Examining and advising on all cultural projects
  • Organising events (Printemps des Arts, exhibitions, organ recitals, Fort-Antoine dans la Ville, European Heritage Day, Cultural Associations Forum, etc.)
