From 7 to 11 November, the Tourist and Convention Authority held its first road shows in Seoul, South Korea and Taipei, Taiwan.

Guy Antognelli, Deputy Director of the Authority, was accompanied on the tour by Benoît Badufle, Director of the South-East Asia and China Offices, and their respective teams. During the events, they hosted a selection of media representatives, partners of the Authority and direct clients, before conducting sales calls to key MICE agencies for Monaco.

In the two cities, around 20 journalists from various publications (focusing on tourism, the economy, luxury goods and lifestyle) were invited to a lunch and presentation on the Principality of Monaco. Guy Antognelli gave a number of interviews, demonstrating the enormous interest in the country as a destination among the public in South Korea and Taiwan.

Fifty representatives of key agencies operating in the leisure tourism and MICE segments were then invited to a special presentation in the afternoon.

In Taipei as in Seoul, these partners expressed their intention to feature Monaco as one of their available destinations from now on.

An arts and cinema themed “Monaco Evening” in Seoul, which focused on the Principality’s most iconic locations and was developed especially for the occasion by Korean artist Kelita Choi, attracted around 50 personalities from the worlds of business, art, politics, and TV and film.

Thanks to a collaboration between the Audiovisual Archives of Monaco and the Société des Bains de Mer, the exhibition was completed by a selection of posters from films shot in Monaco during the twentieth century.

Following an introduction by Guy Antognelli, Seok-Joh Hong, Monaco’s Honorary Consul in Korea, and Kelita Choi took it in turns to share, in Korean, their experience of Monaco, encouraging guests to visit the Principality.

The Monaco delegation reproduced the same format, using the same themes, in Taipei. The “Monaco Evening”, held in partnership with Maserati and Moët Hennessy Taiwan, brought together 50 selected guests.

Finally, the Tourist and Convention Authority’s Asia Office invited former students of the International University of Monaco to all of the evening events. These ex-students were able to share their experiences of Monaco with the other guests, and proved to be energetic and particularly convincing ambassadors for the destination.
