The Monte-Carlo Opera
Since 1879 the Monte-Carlo Opera has been based in the prestigious Salle Garnier, named after its architect Charles Garnier, where the works of Verdi, Wagner, Donizetti and Camille Saint-Saëns were performed and where various other works were created such as Massenet’s Le jongleur de Notre-Dame in 1902, or Don Quichotte in 1911, Fauré’s Pénélope in 1913 or Ravel’s L'Enfant et les Sortilèges, written to a libretto by Colette, in 1925.
The Opera, which is today directed by Jean-Louis Grinda, offers a full season with a varied repertoire.
